An independent social development communications consultant with three decades of experience in research, writing and editing in a variety of fields including gender, child rights, sustainable livelihoods, health, education and poverty, among others, Chitra is also experienced in media outreach and structured communication.
The approach in all her work, be they white papers, policy briefs, report, vision documents, website content or process documentation is one that is emphatically rights-based. In almost all her assignments, she dovetails her efforts with those of others within the organisation and when necessary, without, such as ministries within the government, NGOs and donors who support the initiative.
She is comfortable working with teams, several stakeholders, deadlines and multicultural work environments and perspectives. To have skin in the game, she makes an effort to listen and hear people and communities living on society’s seemingly borderless margins yet hemmed in by constrains of gender, class, caste and socio-economic circumstances bearing down upon them.
